Tupperware Organizing Tips
Organizing Tupperware Is Serious Business
Anyone with a kitchen knows the Tupperware struggle. You know, the one with the cabinet that’s overflowing with containers yet you STILL struggle to find that one lid?
As a professional home organizer, I can safely say that you’re not alone. Food storage is one of the most cited areas of organizing turmoil in the homes that I visit.
Food Storage Organizing Solutions Are Plentiful
Fear not. The right Tupperware organizing solution is out there for you. Choosing the right one depends on a few things:
- How many pieces you have
- How much space you can dedicate to organizing these things
- How much you want to spend
1st Step To Organized Tupperware: Let That Sh&t Go
Say it with me: you don’t need dozens of containers. If you do, it’s time to take a hard stance in letting some go.
Here are my 3 golden rules to decluttering Tupperware:
- Perfect pairs: Toss anything missing a matching lid.
- Stains are for losers: Keep one lone spaghetti-stained piece and let the rest go.
- Warp zone: Toss warped sets into the trash and don’t look back.
2nd Step To Organized Tupperware: Finding The Right Solution
Here are 4 solutions to your organizing woes.
Organizing Solution #1: Lid Organizer
If your frustration lies in matching lids to bottoms, here’s a simple trick.
Get your hands on a pot lid organizer like this one. Yeah this is designed for pots, but it works equal organizing magic on Tupperware, too.
This solution keeps your lids neatly sorted while also not breaking the bank.
Total cost for this cabinet: a whopping $1o.
Organizing Solution #2: Sliding Drawers
If you have the space and are willing to spend a little cash and elbow grease, installing sliding drawers might just be perfect for you.
Sliders will spare you from digging around bottom cupboards. Plus, with multiple drawer sizes available, there’s a great chance that you’ll find a perfect fit for a beautiful custom look. The sliding drawers pictured here are pretty easy to install and will last for years. Mine are going on 5+ years and are still sitting pretty.
Organizing Solution #3: The Simple Drawer
If the idea of using a whole cabinet for Tupperware is laughable (enter my first 520 sq ft apartment here), don’t underestimate the joy of a dedicated kitchen drawer.
If you can limit your collection to a few tried and true pieces, pop in a simple drawer divider like this to separate lids from bottoms. Bonus points if you’re able to match the divider to the rest of the drawer like the one pictured here for a true custom look.
Organizing Solution #4: The $0 Budget, 0 Fuss Way
If you’re not down with investing a single penny on organizing your Tupperware (priorities, am I right?!), hope is not lost.
Here, your biggest mission will be limiting the number of pieces that you keep. If you keep to a single collection, even better.
Pile each sized set (bottoms and lids) together. From here on out, your goal will be to maintain these organized piles even after they head to the dishwasher.
