Behind The Scenes: Creating an Organized Modern Farmhouse Pantry
Before pic: Your standard unoffensive pantry
Walking through a client’s beautiful new home, one room in particular was begging me for some love: the pantry. While every room was meticulously styled with a stunning blend of mid-century and modern farmhouse décor, the pantry was left as most pantries are…a bit blah. Wire shelves were filled with your standard pantry fare.
So, we got to work.
An Organized Pantry in 3 Steps
Step 1: We removed every last item from the pantry. Once I got over the shocking amount of healthy food (mental note: purge my pantry from the Oreo madness in there), we got to sorting everything into categories: vitamins, flours, cooking oils, you name it.
Step 2: We then divided the pantry into zones, dedicating the top shelf to mom & dad. Here, you’ll find items that you want to keep away from little hands like vitamins and adult bevvies.
Step 3: This is where the fun really got started: introducing beautiful (and practical) storage. Every item from the wood accented containers and baskets, clean white bins, and bamboo spice racks and lazy susan’s were picked to match the rest of the house. Even the tea bags were displayed in a re-purposed bamboo utensil divider. Using a blend of white bins and natural woven baskets also emulated the blended farm/mid-century vibe that the homeowners love. We’re also big fans!
The Final Touches
To keep with the home’s clean mid-century lines, we opted for label-free containers. This decision made it even more important to have clearly identifiable food zones.
At the end of a very fun day, this once blah pantry transformed into a stylish, beautiful and practical space. Retrieving your pasta has never felt so good.
(We may have even heard a heartfelt thank you from the pantry on our way out.)
