Sure-Fire Tips To Organizing Food Storage Bags
Organizing food storage bags and wraps is no joke. Finding a way to perfectly place these long mis-shaped boxes can shame even the most skilled Tetris master.
As a professional organizer, I’m not surprised that one of the top questions that I get is how to store ziploc and saran wrap boxes in an organized and uncluttered way. I get it. I’ve been faced with this same struggle more than once.
Here are my top tried and true tips.
1. Kitchen Drawers
I’ve lived in a lot of homes in the past decade or so. The one constant is how I choose to organize my boxes of food storage bags – and that is in a good ol’ fashioned kitchen drawer.
I like to pick one of the smallest drawers in the kitchen. Yes, the smallest. You know the ones that are strangely narrow and you wonder what the heck it can be used for? This is where it’s at.
The key to making this single drawer work for you is this:
Stick to one of each type of bag/wrap that you need. Only one.
One other thing:
Don’t be scared of taking something out of its box. As long as you do this for only 1 or 2 boxes, you should be able to keep things in check.
Any extra boxes should be popped into a basket that you keep in your pantry or garage. Until you need it, don’t let these extra boxes clutter up your kitchen space.
2. Pantry
While we’re on the topic of pantries, another sure-fire way to keeping your food storage wraps organized and clutter-free is to use the backside of your pantry door.
This often-forgotten about space is a great way to store extra stuff. The bin pictured below sticks to door surfaces and holds…you guessed it, saran wraps and ziploc bags like a boss. Stick one, two or more of these bins to your door to hold your whole collection.
3. Cabinet Bins
Speaking of doors, remember to use the insides of your kitchen cabinets. This particular bin is incredibly similar to the one used on the pantry door and works equal wonders here, too. The trick to this working is to be strategic on where to place them so that they don’t interfere with what’s already on the shelf. If all else fails, stick them to the doors below your kitchen sink.
